“Thank” combo Microsoft’s Outlook + Google’s Gmail for effectively destroying my credibility for years!
ATTENTION: if you are using email clients (both desktop and mobile) to send/ receive emails like me, I strongly encourage you to immediately check how your emails are formatted to clients. They may work well on their own, but a combination of them can lead to disasters. I would have never figured this out if I hadn’t happened to check my Gmail’s sent mailbox today. It is a shame and I feel like I have been cheated after all the years I put my entire trust in this combo.
I am too angry to find out how horribly my emails composed via Outlook have been formatted in Gmail. While they look perfectly fine and nice in my Outlook, they turn out a mess in Gmail with inconsistent formatting: text have different formatting from line to line – sometimes with different colors and usually with different fonts and sizes, random line breaks, sometimes cutting a sentence in half and moving the second part to a new line etc.
I feel so embarrassed for hundreds of emails I’ve sent. How unprofessional I have appeared to so many important email receivers. These horribly formatted emails must have made me look like a fool and completely ruining my credibility to them before they even read what I wrote.
The worst part is that I never had a clue about this issue. My friends and colleagues may have acted polite to me and not gently notifying me how terrible my emails look on their screens.
Whatever the causes are, I guess I still have to use Gmail. So goodbye to Outlook… for now.
